"We, the People of God at St. Symphorosa Parish, are a ‘Family Celebrating Faith’ in the Roman Catholic tradition. We assemble to worship God, to share the Bread of the Eucharist, to bring our lives to faith and to bring faith to our lives.” We invite you to be a fully active, participating member of this dynamic Catholic faith community. We look forward to our gathering at the Lord’s Table and to celebrating the Eucharist with you each weekend.
A LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Nearly 85 years ago, Father J. Leo Sharp established a Roman Catholic Parish to serve the religious and social needs of the people of the Clearing Neighborhood of the City of Chicago. The parish he established was designed to be a parish for EVERYONE in the area, not just for people of a specific ethnic group (which was the norm of the time). Thus, from its very beginning, St. Symphorosa Parish has been, and continues to be, a parish which prides itself on its welcoming spirit.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to celebrate the liturgy with us this (and every) weekend. Come and sing along with our outstanding adult choir which leads our assembly in song every Sunday at the 9:30 AM Mass. Come and be warmly received by our Ministers of Hospitality and our “Family Celebrating Faith.”
Even more, I invite you to become an active participant within this wonderful faith family. There are many ongoing ministries and organizations to join as well as seasonal events in which you may become involved.
In my four plus years at St. Symphorosa Parish, I have found faith-filled people and a very active community of faith. Come to visit or join the family. Be sure to stop and say a few words in the Gathering Space after Mass. I’ll be very happy to meet with you and, in the spirit of Father Sharp, welcome you to this parish family.
Sincerely in Christ,
Father Ted Bojczuk
Pastor
